Sir :

I acknowledge receipt of your correspondence addressed to the Right Honorable Stephen Harper regarding the Wilbert Coffin case.

I thank you for your trust in Mr. Harper. I regret to inform you that the Prime Minister  cannot intervene directly in a situation as the one you represent, the administration of justice and the programs of the Conditional Release Commission to remain free from any political interference.

I nevertheless took the liberty of transmitting, for examination, a copy of your correspondence to the Honorable Steven Blaney, Minister of  Public Safety and  Emergency Preparedness of Canada and to the Honorable Peter MacKay, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. I may assure you that their respective cabinets will give it all the required attention.

I am sorry for not having answered your letter sooner.

Yours truly,

A.      Ibrahim
